MEN’S BASKETBALL | 11-12 overall, 6-8 GNAC
LAST WEEK:  2-0 | THIS WEEK: vs. Alaska Anchorage (Feb. 7), vs. Montana State Billings (Feb. 9)
After sweeping both the Simon Fraser Clan and (upsetting) the Western Washington Vikings at their home court last weekend, it will be a quick turnaround for the Alaska Nanooks men’s basketball team, as they continue their Great Northwest Athletic Conference homestead against the Alaska Anchorage Seawolves on Tuesday, Feb. 7 and the Montana State Billings Yellowjackets on Thursday, Feb. 9. Tip-off for both games is scheduled for 7pm AKST.

LAST WEEK: Idle | THIS WEEK: at Seawolf Invite (Feb. 7-8), at UAA Invite (Feb. 11-12)
After a couple weeks off, the Alaska Nanooks men’s and women’s Nordic ski teams will head to Anchorage to compete in the Seawolf Invite (Feb. 7-8) and the UAA Invite (Feb. 11-12). Each race will count toward the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association standings. The Seawolf Invite will feature a men’s and women’s freestyle sprint at the Kincaid Park on Tuesday, Feb. 7 before competing in the men’s and women’s classic mixed-gender relay (4x5km) at the Girdwood Nordic Race Trails on Wednesday, Feb. 8. After two days off, Alaska will gear up once more, participating in the men’s and women’s classic race (5/10km) on Saturday, Feb. 11 before concluding the UAA Invite with a men’s and women’s freestyle race (20/15km) on Sunday, Feb. 12. Both Saturday and Sunday’s races will be held at Kincaid Park in Anchorage.

LAST WEEK: Idle | THIS WEEK: at PCSC Championships (Feb. 8-11)
After winning the NCAA DII portion of the Loyola Marymount Lion’s Cup Jan. 13-14, the Alaska Nanooks swim team is back in action this week competing at the Pacific Collegiate Swimming and Diving Conference Championships this Wednesday, Feb. 8 through Saturday, Feb. 11 at the East Los Angeles College Aquatics Complex in LA. The PCSC is comprised of Alaska, Arizona Christian, Azusa Pacific, Biola, Cal State East Bay, Concordia Irvine, Dixie State, Fresno Pacific, Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, Soka, UC San Diego and UC Santa Cruz.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL | 11-10 overall, 7-7 GNAC
LAST WEEK: 1-1 | THIS WEEK: at Central Washington (Feb. 9), at Northwest Nazarene (Feb. 11)
The Alaska Nanooks women’s basketball team hits the road this week, taking on the Central Washington Wildcats in Ellensburg, Washington on Thursday, Feb. 9 before facing the Northwest Nazarene Crusaders in Nampa, Idaho on Saturday, Feb. 11. Thursday’s game is scheduled for 6pm AKST, while Saturday’s tip-off is slated for Noon AKST.

HOCKEY | 9-16-3 overall, 8-11-3 WCHA
LAST WEEK: 1-1 vs. UAH | THIS WEEK: at Northern Michigan (Feb. 10-11)
The Alaska Nanooks hockey team split the weekend against Alabama-Hunsville at the Carlson Center last Friday and Saturday but will travel to Marquette, Michigan this week, taking on the Northern Michigan Wildcats on a two-game Western Collegiate Hockey Association series at the Berry Events Center on Friday, Feb. 10 and Saturday, Feb. 11. Puck-drop both nights is scheduled for 3:07pm AKST.

Ravn Alaska Nanooks of the Week (Feb. 6-12)
On Monday, the Alaska Nanooks Sports Information Office declared sophomore forward Chad Staley (hockey) and senior Nichole Bathe (women’s Nordic ski) the male and female selections for the Ravn Alaska Nanooks of the Week for their performances on the ice and on the trails, respectfully.

Staley posted a three-point weekend against the UAH Chargers at the Carlson Center last week, collecting one goal and one assist in Friday’s 3-0 win before registering the Nanooks’ only goal, a power play tally, in Saturday’s 4-1 loss. On the season, Staley has collected eight goals and 10 assists for 18 points to tie for first in scoring amongst his teammates.

Bathe finished up her impressive run representing Team USA at the FIS 2017 Under-23 World Nordic Ski Championships on Saturday, placing 33rd overall (45:27.9) in the 7.5 skiathlon at the Soldier Hollow Nordic Center in Midway, Utah. Throughout the week, Bathe also competed in the 10km freestyle (39th) and the classic sprint (18th) while being the first female American-born Alaska Nanook to ski in the U23 World Championships.

Charlie O’Toole Show
Catch Alaska Nanooks Assistant Athletic Director of Marketing and Promotions Zack Hurst on the Charlie O’Toole show this upcoming Wednesday, Feb. 8 from 8-8:30am AKST on KFBX 970AM Fairbanks. Hurst will be discussing the upcoming ticketing promotions and events going on throughout the next couple of weeks for the Alaska Nanooks.

WCHA Launches Mid-Season Streaming Packages
The Western Collegiate Hockey Association launched their mid-season streaming packages last month, just in time for viewers to keep up with their favorite team’s second-half games. Fans can enjoy a league-wide pass for $64.99, a single-team pass for $44.99 and a single-team, road games-only package for $29.99 available now on WCHA.tv.

Can’t Make it to a Game?
All Alaska Nanooks volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball games (home and away) can be followed through the Alaska Nanooks Stretch Internet Portal free of charge. Fans can follow the games through the live stream, live stats or both.

All Alaska Nanook hockey games (home and away) can be heard live through ESPN 820AM Fairbanks or online at 820sports.com. Additionally, fans have the option to watch the games live for a small fee on WCHA.tv.
